your search for Ancestors, many of these records will provide
you with clues for many different ways to search. We
include some depositories that are not actually Archives, but a
great source of information.
National
Archives & Records Administration
Is the nation's record keeper. Of all documents and materials
created in the course of business conducted by the United States
Federal government, only 1%-3% are so important for legal or
historical reasons that they are kept by us forever.
Tennessee State
Library and Archives
The Tennessee State Library and Archives (TSLA), collects and
preserves books and records of historical, documentary and
reference value, and promotes library and archival development

Our mission is to bring electronic versions of the state’s rich
collections to a wider audience. TeVA provides a searchable
array of historical records, photographs, documents, maps,

Tennessee Newspaper Archives (1855-1977)
Metropolitan Government Archives
The Metropolitan Government Archives, a division of the
Nashville Public Library, collects and preserves the
historically valuable records of Metropolitan Nashville and
Davidson County, as well as other records of historical or
documentary significance reflecting the history of our city.
Knox County Archives
The Knox County Archives preserves and provides public access to
the permanent records of this historic county (1792-present).
These include deeds, marriages, divorces, school records,
various court records, and more. Records have suffered no major
destruction and are remarkably intact.
Rutherford County Archives
We are your source for issues dealing with permanent government
records in Rutherford County, as well as local history and
genealogy.
Williamson County Archives & Museum
The Williamson County Archives was created in 1993 by the
Williamson County Commission to serve as a repository for all
official records of Williamson County, though its treasures
extend well beyond that.
